Financial Facts

 A Matter of Integrity

  • Bill Rudge Ministries began in 1977 with literally nothing. During the first year Bill worked a secular job, not only to provide for the needs of his family, but also to pay many of the ministry expenses.

  • The ministry’s total income for 2009 was $150,043. We also had thousands of dollars worth of equipment, supplies, and services donated to the ministry.

  • Bill’s gross 2009 income was $29,478 and Karen’s gross 2009 income was $10,595 (plus minimal insurance benefits) for their full-time services.

  • Bill waived Social Security many years ago, so the only retirement he will receive (should the Lord tarry) is the small amount he invested over the years. Bill and Karen plan on serving in ministry until the day the Lord returns or they go home to be with Him.

  • Bill and Karen do not personally own a vehicle. The ministry owns a 2002 Rendezvous which Bill uses for speaking engagements and other ministry-related purposes. When it is used for personal usage, the mileage is recorded so Bill can pay taxes on the value accordingly.

  • Virtually no interest has been paid during the ministry’s 32 years of existence. In their personal lives, as in the ministry, Bill and Karen do not buy anything for which they must pay interest.

  • Money received from the sale of Bill’s books, pamphlets, and CDs goes back into the ministry as Bill receives no personal royalties. These funds are used to help print more books and produce more CDs to give to spiritually hungry people throughout the U.S. and world who cannot afford to pay for them.

  • Bill does not set a fee for his speaking engagements; however, a special love offering or an honorarium is often provided. Monies received from Bill’s speaking engagements go into the ministry and are used to further our mission.

  • 100% of the monies given for a specific project go to that project.

  • Bill Rudge Ministries does not do fundraising projects (so all our time can be used directly in ministry), nor do we have a congregation from which to take a love offering when we have a special need. Our main source of income is you, our ministry friends and supporters (individuals, churches, and businesses), who receive our monthly newsletter. We exist from month to month on the financial gifts contributed by God’s people who share in our vision to reach the world for Christ and challenge believers to be biblical Christians.

  • While most of the staff are volunteers, those who are employed by the ministry also donate much of their time or raise part of their support. Bill and Karen also donate much of their time and finances and raise their own support. Bill and Karen’s combined income is below what most of their peers in ministry make. Like the rest of the staff, they serve in this ministry, obviously not for financial gain, but because they are convinced this is where the Lord has led them.

  • Any additional information you would like concerning the ministry’s or Bill and Karen’s personal finances may be obtained by contacting the ministry. Our Form 990 is open for public inspection.

  • Bill Rudge Ministries is a 501(c)(3) educational and religious non-profit organization with over 30 years of credibility, integrity, and maximizing funds. All gifts are tax-deductible and receipts are automatically sent (unless requested otherwise) so that we can maintain high standards of accountability.
  • Our Promise to You

We appreciate your trust in the Bill Rudge Ministries and respect your privacy. We maintain tight security on the financial records of our supporters. It is our policy not to lend or sell names on our e-mail or mailing lists. We also promise to be good stewards with all financial gifts and wisely use them to advance His Kingdom.

To Whom is Bill Rudge Accountable?
  • He is accountable to his Board of Directors, who examine an itemized monthly financial report.

  • He is accountable to his Board of Reference and the ministry’s accountants, attorneys, and advisers, who provide valuable information and assistance.

  • He is accountable to his staff who are part of the day-to-day operations of this ministry.

  • He is accountable to his wife and family with whom he spends much time in ministry.

  • He is accountable to his ministry donors who receive a monthly newsletter and receipts for donations.

  • And foremost, he is accountable to his LORD to whom he must one day give an account, realizing that he will be judged more strictly because of his leadership position.

Quadruple Check on Finances

One of the reasons why so many supporters have stood by us over the past 30 years is the integrity we have maintained regarding finances and ministry operations.

The following checks and balances have aided us in this process.

1. Daily financial records are processed by Lois Greathouse and Karen Rudge.

2. Donor receipts are sent out on an individual basis per gift as well as a year-end statement recording the total for that year as confirmation of giving and for tax purposes (unless requested otherwise).

3. Eilene Urmson (treasurer) submits a monthly financial report which is approved by the Board of Directors.

4. Jeff Bryan (accountant) does the quarterly tax reports, Beverly Morrison (CPA) completes the yearly review and annual financial report, and Mela Garofalo (accountant) does a yearly review of Bill and Karen’s personal taxes.

We Don't Know How the Lord Does It

It is truly amazing that on an annual budget of only $150,000, we fund three full-time and five part-time staff, operate a growing international mission, cover all the expenses of the ministry center, fund the production and distribution of books, CDs, radio broadcasts, and a web site, and sponsor outreaches in the U.S. and abroad.

Even though we attempt in every way to be wise stewards and maximize everything we receive, it is unbelievable that year after year the Lord not only keeps us going –– but also growing.

Just like the jar of oil and the five loaves and two fish, it is incredible how the Lord multiplies our finances and maximizes our outreaches.

Is it any wonder we are so appreciative of everyone who supports this ministry? You are being used of the Lord more than you may realize. One day you will be greatly blessed for your part in what has truly been a faith ministry for over 30 years.

May every sacrificial dollar you give be richly rewarded when you receive your eternal inheritance from the Lord. Thanks for your faithfulness!

A Word from Our Accountant

In a day and age of many corporate and ministry scandals, the Bill Rudge Ministries seeks to maintain the highest level of integrity and accountability for all the resources it receives.

Bill Rudge strives in every way to be a prudent steward of the resources that the ministry receives and to be upright in every way regarding the financial matters of the ministry.

It is a privilege and an honor to work with Bill Rudge and the Bill Rudge Ministries of Living Truth, Inc. From my experience of working with the ministry, it seems in everything that is done, it is done to the glory of God.

“Bill Rudge Ministries is the best ministry that my husband and I have ever been acquainted with concerning stewardship.”

"In the day and age we are living, it is imperative we give to ministries who have proven integrity, maximize their use of funds, and are impacting lives for Christ locally, nation-ally, and throughout the world. We must give an account of our stewardship, so be sure to support missionary out- reaches such as Bill Rudge Ministries. "

“Bill Rudge Ministries has manifested more integrity and honesty about finances than any other ministry I know.”

Jim Weikal

"As I proofed this Integrity newsletter, I remembered an incident that happened shortly after I began to volunteer at the Ministry. June Merchant and I were unpacking a box of items that had been donated to the ministry, but was designated for an overseas destination. I opened a box containing an assortment of writing stuff, pens, pencils, rulers, etc. I picked up a couple of pretty nice pens, handed one to June and suggested we use them while at the ministry.

Bill just happened to come dashing through the room just as I said the words to June. He stopped quickly, looked at me and said most distinctly: “Understand something, Gert, anything that is donated to us to be used for another purpose, is never to be used by us. Please put the stuff back in the box and keep in mind that our integrity is at stake when we are entrusted with things that are donated to us. It all goes to whomever it has been designated. None of it stays here.”

That is a loose translation of what Bill told me that day, but I have not forgotten the earnestness with which he said it, nor have I forgotten the intent –– the integrity of BRM is at stake."
