Letters from Prisoners and Chaplains PDF Print E-mail

The following are excerpts from the thousands of letters we receive from prisoners and chaplains:

Last Days Book Touches Prisoner

I picked up your book The Last Days at our prison chapel here at Okeechobee Correctional Institute. It is a wonderfully simple –– straightforward work. At the same time it is loaded with eye opening –– powerful Scripture that lays things out in an undeniable way. I have never written to any ministry before, although I read as much as I can from the chapel library. If it is possible for you to send me more of your literature, I would be very thankful.

D.S., Florida

Dear Bill,

Less than three months after I arrived in prison, I saw a man get killed by about seven others. I have seen guys get cut up by rival gang members using razor blades and many other fights. I have never been harmed in any way and I know only the Lord protected me. Your ministry sent me a copy of your look, Self Defense from a Biblical Perspective. I have truly been blessed by your books which I have been receiving for the past two-and-a-half years. Thank you and may God bless you.

D., Alabama

Dear Brother Bill:

I praise God for your ministry. I am dying of heart disease, but I’ve found the Lord. Only 20% of my heart is working and I give it all to Him. I can’t afford to buy anything so I am very happy that your ministry helps guys like me. Your book, Beware, was the most inspiring book I’ve had the pleasure of reading. So much truth! I also enjoyed and could relate to your testimony. I praise God for His children that sincerely care about brothers and sisters like me.

H.B., Draper, Utah

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I am writing this letter in request of your books, pamphlets and cassettes to add to our growing library. We have a copy of Beware ... Deception & Delusion In The Church, a must read for all Christians. We have about 1200 inmates and a growing Christian movement. We have a zero budget for the chaplain’s office so we rely on Christian soldiers like yourself to help our library grow. Whatever materials you can send will be greatly appreciated.

Chaplain H.M., Mitchells, Virginia

Dear Brother Bill:

Your books and cassettes have been passed around among the inmates and it has been brought to my attention to ask for a donation to our chapel lending library so more of the men may have an opportunity to study your material. This particular unit is also the womens’ prison, so they too have access. We have no funding for such things so they asked I write your ministry.

The inmates have expressed their thankfulness and have asked that I forward their Christian love to you. Your books have made a great addition to the library. The inmates have a very high opinion of your insight into the Word of God. We welcome any future materials you are able to donate

All of us express our gratitude and love for your service in the Lord. May God continually bless the efforts of your ministry. We deeply appreciate your help.

Chaplain B.F., Utah State Prison

Brother Bill,

Could you please do a special favor and send all your books and tapes? Our chaplain has no funds to purchase materials. We get all our chapel library materials by donations only. All materials you send will go to the chaplain and will be a part of our permanent chapel.

Prison Chapel Library, Muskegon, Michigan

Bill Rudge Ministries,

Thanks again for the books and other items you send to prison inmates. They really mean a lot to us and give us food for the soul and spirit.

D.S., Susanville, California

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I keep you in my prayers each day. I really enjoy the newsletters you send each month and pass them on. I would like your book Overcoming the Giants, but I don’t have money to send. All I have is my prayers. Thank you for all you are doing and may the Lord bless you.

S.R., Clearfield, Pennsylvania

Bill Rudge Ministries,

Please send me some material for my spiritual growth while I am in this prison and when I am released...

M.H.,Turks & Caicos Islands, British West Indies

Dear Bill,

I received your newsletter along with other reading material from "Jesus People Magazine" ministry in Sacramento, California. As I read, I was impressed by the fact that in obedience to the direction of the Lord, you let go of property which you loved dearly in order to reach out to the lost of the world. I am an inmate in Massachusetts. I have been saved and committed to Jesus Christ since 1987. My incarceration came as a result of facing and confessing to crimes I committed years prior to my salvation. I am constantly in search of ways to improve my relationship with God and to reach out to others with the message of the gospel of Christ. I would appreciate very much a copy of your booklet on fasting. My lovely wife who is a committed Christian and is very supportive, is presently learning about fasting in her local church. If you have a catalog or list of your books, I would appreciate that, too. May God deeply bless you.

R.A., Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Bill Rudge Ministries,

Thank you for the book and pamphlet you sent. They were a blessing and I enjoyed the newsletter. It was nice to find the little card in the package that said, "Packed With Prayer." It is a blessing to know that you are praying for me. I have added your ministry to my prayer list. God Bless!

T.S., Marion, North Carolina

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I received your two pamphlets and I have studied them. I have been spiritually enriched. I found confirmation from the pamphlet, Are We Living in the Last Days? Please keep the pamphlets coming. Thank you and God Bless you.

J.B., New Haven, Connecticut

Bill Rudge,

I have read your book Overcoming The Giants in your life. It was an inspiration and a blessing. I am donating it to the library here at the institution and I pray it will be as much of a blessing to someone else as it was to me. I am also  requesting your book, Reaching Your Maximum Potential in Christ and pamphlet, Courage to Stand Alone. They too will be donated to our library. Thanks for the inspiration and blessing.

C.C., Albion, Pennsylvania

Dear Bill,

We are here in the Akuse prison in Ghana. Bill, can you imagine how your parcels are cheering, boosting, and edifying our spirits? To be honest, the impact of your parcels are great. Indeed the promises of the Lord "to supply all our needs according to His riches" is definitely fulfilled through the Bill Rudge Ministries. I highly esteem this golden opportunity provided by the Lord Jesus through you and I fervently promise to invest my time and zeal into every material sent to me, thus putting everything into good use for yielding fruit. We, the inmates in Christ over here, fast and pray twice a week for the Bill Rudge Ministries. God bless you.

E.C., Ghana Prison Service, Ghana, West Africa

Dear Bill & Staff,

Enclosed is a check for $5.00 to help just a tiny bit in the workings of your ministry. I know this is not a lot of money for the doings of your ministry. For me it is my tithing and I freely give it to you to do with as you see fit. I thank you for the opportunity of being a part of your ministry and will continue to pray that the Lord will bless and direct all in everything you do. God bless always.

M.S., Cresson, Pennsylvania

Dear Bill Rudge,

I found your address in a prisoners’ resource list mentioning your monthly newsletter, books, and tapes. Please send me information about Bill Rudge Ministries and how to receive the newsletter and free books? Thank you.

N.J. Jasper Florida

Dear Mr. Rudge,

I am a citizen of Belgium near the end of a five-year prison term in the United States Federal System. I am scheduled to be released and should return to my country of Belgium. Throughout my five years, your newsletters and various publications were a blessing of tranquility. I want to sincerely thank you for the appropriateness and accuracy of facts and information used to substantiate your conclusions. For your honesty and gift of persuasion, I most graciously thank you. My blessings have inspired me to organize a Christian foundation upon my return to Belgium. I was so intrigued by your book, "Who is This Jesus?", that I now respectfully ask permission to translate it in the Dutch language. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. God Bless.

N.T., Loretto, Pennsylvania

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I am blessed with your program on KXEG-Phoenix. Please put me on your mailing list for your newsletter and or any written materials you can possibly send. I am incarcerated and spend 23 of each 24 hours locked down. I am devoting this time to studying the Word of God and strengthening my faith in the Lord. Thank you and God bless.

M.Y., Phoenix, Arizona

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I derive great inspiration from the very comprehensible material you sent me. I think Bill is doing a great deal indeed. What I find awesome about his material which is so urgently absent in other religious works is the simplicity of language, clarity of message and how it all fits our day-to-day activities. Bill’s works afford an objective mirror through which all well-meaning Christians can examine themselves. Needless to say, I just could not help, but ask for more.

M.B., Ghana, West Africa

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I have spent all but 5 months of the past 11 1/2 years in prison. While in prison, I  accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was very sincere and made tremendous changes in my life. I borrowed your book, Reaching Your Maximum Potential ... In Christ. Reading through I was blessed by it’s messages. It  addressed many of the short comings that led to my fall and explained what I must do to overcome, correct, and prevent them.

I want to thank you for your kindness in response to my letter and for your generosity of sending me the book and the accompanied newsletters. I immediately began reading through them with much interest and excitement. I’m quite impressed with the straightforward, Biblically sound, and sincere approach of your ministry.

You have no idea how much your response means to an individual in my situation. For example ... several years ago I had written to approximately ten different churches. I asked for nothing other than some guidance and hoped for a response. How many responded to my letter? ... not a single one! The total rejection was hurtful. So, when I received such a personal and sincere response as the one you shared, it was quite a blessing!

I’d like very much to receive your monthly newsletters and your book Who Is This Jesus? I promise not to take advantage of your generosity if my financial situation improves, I’ll remember your ministry’s needs, as well. Again, thanks for everything.

C.A., Huntingdon, Pennsylvania

Dear Bill Rudge,

You have such an awesome testimony. I am currently in a youth correctional facility in the Chino area, so it is good to hear the Word. The tape you sent was a blessing. I have shared it with one of the sergeants and one of the secretaries up here. They enjoyed it. Also your book, Reaching You maximum Potential ... In Christ, was awesome. I believe that all the Christians here should read it. I have two copies that are going around right now. I can see the impact it has on people. You have been a blessing to me and many others here.

L.G., Ontario, California

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I am writing to you at the encouragement of a Christian Pen Pal I have been corresponding with. She sent me your address and told me to write.

Briefly, I am currently serving 15 years in Federal Prison, and have 7 years in now. I previously served 14 years in State Prisons. My life has been nothing but pure hell.

My family has tried for years to encourage me to live right, as I know I should but I continue to return to my same old lifestyle every time I get out of prison. I am an alcoholic and drug addict, and have lived my life of crime for nearly 30 years. I know that I do need to change as I have no more chances.

I was told to ask for Self Control-The Essence Of Strength, and that it would be of great help to me. I hope that I will hear from you in the near future.

K.S., Pekin, Illinois

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I am Chaplain here at Allendale Correctional Institution. I am writing because I have had several requests for your books. If it is possible for you to send me 12 copies of each of your books, then I could meet the needs of those who requested the materials. We also have a Christian Library where I could put your books so they would be made available to the population. Thank you once again for your ministry and may God richly bless your efforts.

Chaplain M.D., South Carolina Department of Corrections

Dear Bill,

Thank you for sending the books and cassettes. I’ve really appreciated all you have done for the inmates here at this facility. Your thoughtfulness has really ment a lot to the men here. Thanks so much for caring. We love you and appreciate you.

C.D., Hodgen, Oklahoma

Dear Bill Rudge Ministries:

I have just read your book, Overcoming The Giants in your Life. A very good book, very well written, and easy to understand. Your book explained a lot. I am currently in prison here in Texas and our library is very limited. Any books or pamphlets would be greatly appreciated.

D.B., Texas

Dear Bill Rudge Ministries:

Thank you very much for the love and concern for our ministries of prisons and hospitals. We thank you very much for the tapes which you have been sending to us. God is good and he loves us very much through you.

P.L., Senior Chaplain, Kenya

The Rudge Family,

Since this is my second time in jail, I am most likely going to be locked up for a while. Through all I’ve done, stories unlimited, I have always remembered your family and the love you willingly showed me when I let you. To me you are some of the greatest people ever to enter my life. I wish I had gratefully accepted your messages when I was younger.

J.W., Mercer, Pennsylvania

Bill Rudge Ministries,

I must tell you how grateful I am to all of you. I have learned so much from all the material you have sent. I learned of your ministry when I asked a fellow inmate for a book to read. He handed me Reaching Your Maximum Potential in Christ. I was so moved by your testimony that I felt a strong desire in my heart to contact you. I believe what I read from your book is exactly what God needed to reveal to me. Thank you so much! My time here in the El Paso jail goes so much easier having Bill’s teaching materials to help me in my walk with Christ. I have learned so much and I feel so much better about myself knowing that I can be on the side of Christ after all the bad I have done.

D.B., El Paso, Texas

Dear Bill,

I’m a woman in prison til 2044. I have 4 charges: murder, burglary, robbery, and arson. But all this happened while being on crack cocaine. Your books have helped me a lot. I’ve already read two of your books and your newsletter. Could I get more?

C. S., Marysville, Ohio

Dear Mr. Rudge,

From your writings (which I faithfully read to the entire cell block after lockdown), I have developed a sincere respect for your dedication to the Lord; in addition for you personally.

R.D., Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

Dear Bill Rudge,

I am writing you to ask for your assistance. I am the chapel librarian at the prison facility. I need you to  make an investment in the lives of men who most people would rather not even think about. I need sound theological teaching materials to help guide these men into a sound understanding of Historic Christianity.

I’ve enclosed a list of your materials which we desperately need and 50 copies of your newsletter each month. I will ensure that they are used and reused. May the Lord bless you.

T.S., Huntsville, Texas

Dear Bill Rudge,

I received the book, Beware, from Jesus People USA. I would like to thank you for supplying them with the books. I am doing time at Folsom State Prison in California. Since coming to prison, I have asked Jesus into my life. The more I learn, the better life gets. I would like to know if you have any other books, cassettes or newsletters that I may receive? Anything that you can send would be appreciated.

P.F., Represa, California

Dear Bill,

I listened to your cassette and every word is true. I was born a Muslim. In my younger days I never gave the Bible a chance. I was a man without self-control and I ended up on drugs and alcohol. I lost my daughter and son. It was in prison I read the Bible and offered my life to Christ. I became a changed man. Bill, your message healed me completely. Now I have the “courage to stand alone” and I pray every day. I was left to die in prison and I gave my soul to Christ and I lived, by the mercies of God. I would be grateful for any literature. Bill, I can’t pay for the literature but, someday, somehow, somewhere, I will be able to repay you. I want to be like you. I have a very strong motivation to work for the Lord.

M.H., Guyana, South America

“For I was Hungry...”

by K.C. Chenoweth

Jesus said, " ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’  "The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me’ " (Matthew 25:35-40)

Bill gets many letters from all over the world from people who have  heard him on radio or cd, read his literature, or visited his website (billrudge.org). They also respond when he travels and speaks overseas and in different states in the US. Countless pastors, missionaries, chaplains, prisoners, military, and others write requesting Bill’s books and cassettes. We are one of the few ministries that provides free literature and tapes to prisoners and chaplains. This month we are going to share just a few of the hundreds of letters we receive from male and female prisoners and prison chaplains. You will be encouraged by them.

By sending these people the books that they need to grow in Christ, the Bill Rudge Ministries is "visiting them in prison" as Jesus instructed His disciples. People who support this ministry with their prayers and gifts will share in the eternal blessings that comes from this.

Bill Rudge also ministers in a powerful way in many prisons throughout the US. These men and women usually cannot support the ministry in any way. However, he goes in faith and also freely provides them materials. Somehow, the Lord always meets the needs. Thanks for your generous and sacrificial gifts to help us reach those behind bars for Christ and encourage them to grow in Him.
